Current transformers (CT’s) are used for the measurement of electrical currents. Voltage transformers, or potential transformers, (PT’s) are used for the measurement of voltage signals. When the current or voltage is too high to be directly applied to a measuring instrument or device, a current transformer or a voltage transformer will produce a proportionally reduced current or voltage signal which can be directly applied to the measurement device. Both current transformers and voltage transformers are commonly used in metering applications and in the electrical power industry. Call Ram Meter Inc. to select the proper current or voltage transformer for your application.
